Cuenta con puesto de la Cruz Roja y equipo de vigilancia los fines de semana, así como con aparcamientos. Recientemente se le ha concedido la bandera azul. Formada por la erupción del volcán Teneguía, esta playa mide 275 m. de largo y 40 m. de ancho, y es sobre todo de lapilli negro. Esta cala constituyó en el pasado uno de los pocos puntos de desembarco de mercancías del lugar. Allí, mediante el trueque se cambiaba pescado por otros productos de primera necesidad. Hoy es una de las principales zonas de veraneo de los habitantes del municipio, aunque la dificultad de su acceso no la hace muy recomendable para el baño. Las Piscinas de La Fajana con el paso del tiempo se llegaron a acondicionar hasta formar un conjunto de tres piscinas que han preservado su entorno natural: una grande, otra mediana, y una tercera de uso infantil, todas habilitadas para el baño. Es una de las playas preferidas de la población local. Dos pistas asfaltadas comunican el acceso a la playa, una bahía de 250 m. de largo y 75 m. de ancho, de arena fina y picón. Cuenta con pasarenas, un chiringuito, área recreativa con mesas, bancos y sombrillas, duchas, puesto de socorrista, aparcamientos, servicio de limpieza, acceso para discapacitados y servicio de transporte público, así como una zona de fondeo.
