El Cabildo de El Hierro, ha recuperado sus caminos tradicionales para convertirlos en una Red de Senderos conforme a las normas internacionales de la ERA (European Ramblers Associations) y han sido homologados por la FEDME (Federación de Deportes de Montaña y Escalada). El Cabildo de El Hierro, the island council, has restored and retraced most of the tradicional trails and tracks which make up the new network of Trails on the island of El Hierro. The tracks on this network are signposted using arrows, information panles, interpretative tables and painted markers which use the international colour codes and a very simple symbol code which is easy to understand. All of the paths/trails are identified by letters and numbers. There are three main categories: Long haul, Short and Local.
